Georgia's most famous groundhog predicted an early spring when he failed to see his shadow. General Beauregard Lee emerged from his tiny white home in Lilburn (near Atlanta). With overcast skies above, no shadow came with him. Beau contradicted his more famous Yankee counterpart, Punxutawney Phil, who saw his shadow after waking up in his Pennsylvania home. Phil drew boos from the thousands who gathered in 17 degree weather when his actions predicted six more weeks of winter.
No biscuit for Phil.
